Four-day Educational Awareness Program

The opening ceremony of a four-day conference for the educational awakening of Islamic Scholars of various Islamic Jamaats across Nepal was held in the auditorium of the Nepal Tourism Board by Islami Sangh Nepal with the support of WAMY (World Assembly of Muslim Youth). Hon'ble Minister of State for Education Dhanmaya B.K. (Khanal), honorable former ministers, honorable parliamentarians, Saudi Arabian ambassador to Nepal hon. Abdul Nasser bin Hussain Alharsi, member secretary of Social Welfare Council Dilli Prasad Bhatt, representatives of WAMY Riyadh Dr. Abdul Muhsin Azzakari, Dr. Ahmed Al-Fuhed and Dr. Abdul Mohsin bin Baz, officials and representatives of various religious and social organizations of Muslims and Muslim scholars were present. Honorable Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Surendra Karki, was the chief guest of the program. The opening ceremony was presided over by Maulana Khursheed Alam Islahi, the president of Islami Sangh Nepal.

While presenting the concept note of the program, Maulana Nazrul Hasan Falahi mentioned the bitter truth that the Muslim community is more backward than the Dalits in the field of education and gave the opinion about its' reasons and solutions. Criticizing the government's discriminatory policy towards the Muslim community, he said that Islami Sangh Nepal has been running educational awareness campaigns along with the establishment of madrasa and schools to empower the community in educational sectors. In addition to this, mentioning that there is a language problem in getting education for Muslims, he raised the issue of setting up a separate Language Commission and allowing the Public Service Commission examinations in their mother tongue.

Honorable Communication and Information Technology Minister Surendra Karki, the chief guest of the program, said that the Muslim community has yet to experience democracy. Democracy means that all the people of the country can feel that they are citizens of the state without any discrimination. But still Muslims, Dalits, women, Madhesi tribes have not been able to experience democracy, he lamented.

Likewise, MP Mukhtar Ahmad explained the different types of education like formal, informal, alternative, religious schools and highlighted the importance of madrasa education. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the government's attitude towards the formation of Madrasa Board Committee. He expressed his thought that modern madrasas should be established in each of the 7 provinces of Nepal.

Former Minister of Home Affairs, Rizwan Ansari, insisted on the importance of education in Islam and called on the Muslim leaders to move towards a solution, noting that the Muslim communities are backward not only in education, but in every field including political, social, and economic.

Maulana Shamim Ahmad Nadvi, General Secretary of Jamia Serajul Uloom Assalafia, mentioned that common people have a narrow view of education towards Muslims and Islam. The golden age of Islam was due to education and even today only through the development of education we can reach that age again.

Representative of WAMY Riyadh, Dr. Abdul Mohsin Ajjakari, appreciating the beauty of Nepal and the honesty of its people, said that the country should be made economically prosperous by making proper use of the resources and means available in Nepal. For that, it was emphasized that skills and training based education should be provided to Nepal's manpower at subsidized rates to produce skilled manpower.

Country Director of Wami Nepal. Introducing Wami, Shamim Ahmed asserted that Wami Nepal is continuously working to produce skilled manpower by providing various skill-based trainings aimed at the youth. He emphasized that most of the parents in the society entrust the future of their children to the leaders of the society such as the ulema, and the ulema should take responsibility for its all-round development.

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Abdul Nasser bin Hussain Al Harsi asserted that he always has a positive and spiritual relationship with Nepal. He also mentioned that he is helping Nepal as much as possible in every field. At the same time, he said that 20 Nepalese students are being given free scholarships every year. Clarifying that there is no connection between Islam and terrorism, he emphasized that we should fight together with extremist groups that are a stigma for such human beings. He also condemned the recent attack on the Kaaba, the holy site of Muslims in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Honorable Member of Parliament Zakir Hussain in his speech asserted that it is impossible to run the country due to the lack of qualifications among Muslims and emphasized that they should develop qualifications and for that, technical education should be developed.

Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee Taj Muhammad said that such educational awareness programs should be done in every area from villages to cities. He emphasized that the Muslims should not ask for donations for the common expenses, but should open technical universities in every province of Nepal and produce skilled manpower.

In his speech, former Minister of State Haqiqullah Khan emphasized that education is the key to success in worldly and transcendental life, so we should all support the development of education.

Hon'ble Minister of State for Education Dhanmaya v. a. Khanal emphasized that in today's modern era, education has been established as a basic need of people, so education should be within everyone's reach. Due to the fact that Muslims are behind in every body of the state, it has not been established in the country in an inclusive and proportionate manner. State agenda

He said that all the people in the country without discrimination are to be transformed into skilled manpower.

At the end of the program, the central president and chairman of the Islamic Association of Nepal, Khursid Alam Islahi, thanked everyone and said that the Islamic Association was proud to organize this event. All the Muslim community should unite for education and acquire all kinds of useful knowledge and skills in the world

He made it clear that it should be used for the development of mankind. In addition, asserting that today's day has historical significance, he emphasized that the parents and teachers of all societies should join the development of education with new zeal and vigor.

The opening ceremony was attended by 210 people. Certificates were distributed to 94 participants on the last day of the 4-day conference which lasted from 27th to 30th of Kartik.
