Launch of Three Books
September 20, 2025 (Saturday), Islamic Cultural Centre, Balkhu – Kathmandu
A remarkable intellectual and literary program was organized at the central office of Islami Sangh Nepal, where three important books were formally launched.
The first book was Seeratun Nabi ﷺ, written in Nepali under the title "Mohammad (स.) को जीवनी" by Mr. Hafizur Rahman. The second book was Islam Darpan, authored by Mr. Irfan Pokhrel, while the third book Kala Suraj (The Black Sun) was written by renowned novelist and journalist Mr. Bharat Jangam.
The program was presided over by Amir of Islami Sangh Nepal, Maulana Nazarul Hasan Falahi, while former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, Honorable Mr. Tahir Ali Ansari, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Distinguished scholars, religious leaders, respected personalities, and a large number of general participants attended the event, with around 75 people present.
Authors’ Introduction
1. Mr. Hafizur Rahman
Born in Rupandehi district in 2013 B.S., Mr. Hafizur Rahman received his early education at his village Maktab and completed his secondary schooling locally. For higher education, he went to Aligarh Muslim University, India, and obtained his M.Sc. in Geology.
In 2038 B.S., he joined the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Government of Nepal, as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Mines and Geology. After decades of service, he retired in 2071 B.S. He was also sent to the Netherlands for diploma studies and participated in several international tours.
Post-retirement, he has been actively involved in educational, religious, and social activities in his native village. He is the author of several books and is currently working on a new book focusing on the concept of Tawheed (Oneness of Allah).
2. Mr. Irfan Pokhrel
Author of Islam Darpan, Mr. Irfan Pokhrel was born in a remote village of Sankhuwasabha district, Koshi Province. He completed his SLC from his hometown and later moved to Kathmandu for higher studies, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Tribhuvan University.
During his academic journey, his quest for knowledge and research brought him closer to Islam, and about thirty years ago, he embraced the faith. He then served as a mathematics teacher in various colleges for 12 years.
After the 2015 Nepal earthquake, he left government service and joined HeSRA Nepal, dedicating his life to social work. He has also made significant contributions in the field of journalism and writing—serving as a columnist for Gorkhapatra and editor of the monthly Madhur Sandesh for about 15 years.
He co-authored mathematics textbooks for grades 9 and 10, and has written two other books (Roza, Namaz and Dua) in addition to Islam Darpan. He also assisted in the Nepali translation of the Qur’an and has been active in welfare services for nearly two decades.
3. Mr. Bharat Jangam
Mr. Bharat Jangam was born in 1947 in Bhaktapur, Kathmandu. He is a well-known novelist and independent journalist, with most of his works written in Nepali. Several of his books have been translated into English, Sanskrit, Urdu, and other languages.
He has played a vital role in strengthening democracy in Nepal and is widely recognized as a prominent anti-corruption activist. He established the Anti-Corruption Academy, contributing through extensive research, education, and training on the subject.
As the founder and president of the Forum for Independent Thinking, he has written hundreds of articles, participated in numerous seminars, and promoted public awareness. His latest book, Kala Suraj (कालो सूर्य – The Black Sun), was translated into Urdu by Mr. Siddiqui from Bangladesh and published in December 2024. Written in a semi-novel style, the book presents intellectual and literary discourse in a new form.
